Thank you for your understanding on my delayed updates. Here is a quick update on what we have done since my last post. The 4th graders went to Peralta Adobe and had a wonderful experience. I hope they went home and talked to you about their experiences and what they learned. Thank you to the parents who volunteered to chaperone. The 5th graders will be going to the Exploratorium on November 18. Permission slips will be coming home soon.
Conferences begin next Tuesday November 1 through November 10. Students will be released at 1:15 on those days. It is unbelievable that our first trimester is coming to an end. The students are doing great adjusting to our new math curriculum. I know that it has not been an easy transition but they are doing great. 4th graders just finished learning about about the four regions in California. They also learned about the first Californians and created slides to show their understanding. The 5th graders learned about different explorers and the purpose of their exploration. They created slides on on some of the explorers they learned about. For our writing curriculum we have been focusing on writing narratives. We some very creative writers. I am looking forward to our opinion writing curriculum. We have finished our first science rotations. The students have enjoyed interacting with their peers from the other classes. Please ask them what they are learning in science. As we approach October it bring us to Halloween. Our Halloween Parade is this Friday 10/28 at 8:30. You are all invited to come and watch. We will be joining the other four 5th grade classes after lunch at 1pm for our Halloween party. Monday Oct. 31 is teacher in service day, there is no school. I hope you all have a safe and fun evening. Happy Halloween! I am going to ask that you please do not send candy next week as a snack for your children. Continue sending health treats and snacks and keep the candy at home.
